Polo Players Support Group Welcomes U.S. Polo Assn. as Title Sponsor of 2020 40-Goal Polo Challenge

Wellington, Fla. - Oct. 8, 2019 - The Polo Players Support Group (PPSG) is thrilled to welcome U.S. Polo Assn. as the title sponsor of the 40-Goal Polo Challenge. The PPSG is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization dedicated to providing financial assistance to seriously injured and ill polo players and grooms. Since 2002, the PPSG has hosted their marquee fundraising event, the 40-Goal Polo Challenge in South Florida, gathering eight of the world's best polo players to put on an all-star polo game to benefit the PPSG.

Polo Players Support Group Mourns Loss of Gerry Aschinger

Wellington, Fla. – May 23, 2019 – Gerald “Gerry” Russell Aschinger, 74, husband of Dana Aschinger, passed away at his home Friday, May 17, 2019 after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Gerry was a businessman, entrepreneur and consummate horseman. Together with Dana, he developed War Horse Place Farm in Lexington, Kentucky in 2004. After breeding the multimillion-dollar stakes winning horse, Prayer For Relief, Gerry attained his trainers license and trained for eight years producing Stakes winners Dramedy and Lots O’ Lex.

Lucchese 40-Goal Polo Challenge Raises $375,000 for Injured, Ill Players and Grooms

Wellington, Fla. – Feb. 21, 2019 – Polo players and fans convened at the renowned International Polo Club Palm Beach (IPC), for the annual Lucchese 40-Goal Polo Challenge. The match serves as the marquee fundraising event for the Polo Players Support Group(PPSG) – a 501(c)(3) that provides financial support for seriously injured and ill polo players and grooms. The event raised $375,000 which will be used to help those members of our polo family in need.

Port Mayaca Polo Club, Orthwein Family and Gillian Johnston Recognized as Trophy Sponsors of Lucchese 40-Goal Polo Challeng

Wellington, Fla. - Feb. 15, 2019 - The Polo Players Support Group (PPSG) is grateful to have Gillian Johnston, the Orthwein family and Port Mayaca Polo Club as Trophy Sponsors of the 2019 Lucchese 40-Goal Polo Challenge, in memory of Steve Orthwein. This year's trophy, titled "THE BATH" by Rich Roenisch, is particularly meaningful as the 2019 event is dedicated to the grooms who are so integral to the sport of polo. The families of Manuel Romero and Patricio Vasquez, two of the best polo grooms in history, as well as the family of Chuy Baez, an outstanding player and horseman, will be in attendance to remember their contribution to polo.
